This is the blog of the lab of Matthias C. Rillig. All opionions expressed here are my own.
Our lab is at Freie Universität Berlin, Institute of Biology, and part of the Berlin-Brandenburg Institute of Advanced Biodiversity Research. We work on the interface of soil, plant and fungal ecology.
A bit more about me? I was born in the beautiful city of Speyer and studied biology at Universität Kaiserslautern (Germany) and University of Edinburgh (Scotland), and obtained my Ph.D. in Ecology from University of California Davis/ San Diego State University in 1997, working with Dr. Michael F. Allen. After a postdoc at the Carnegie Institution of Washington (Stanford) with Dr. Chris Field, I became an assistant professor and then associate professor of microbial ecology at University of Montana; I stayed there for 9 years, to then unexpectedly, in 2007, move back to Germany. I am now a professor of plant ecology.
